Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing. It is an evidence based approach that was developed in 1987 and has made an impact on the mental health world. This approach is incredibly valuable for those who feel stuck or are experiencing symptoms from traumatic experiences.

EMDR allows us to process through painful memories and beliefs about ourselves in a productive and effective way.

During this therapy, clients recall distressing memories while simultaneously focusing on external stimuli, such as the therapist's hand movements or auditory tones. This dual attention helps to reduce the emotional intensity of the memories and allows clients to reprocess them in a less distressing manner. EMDR is one of the many approaches I offer clients.
